Essential oils are liquids containing volatile aroma compounds from flowers, fruits and other plant parts. Biobased oils are “essential” in the sense that they carry the distinctive scent, or essence, of the plant.
Citrus essential oils are generally extracted by pressing the peel; other processes include steam distillation and collection during concentration of the juice. Citrus essential oils are commonly used as flavors for food and drink, as fragrances in perfumes, cosmetics and bath products, in resin applications, and are employed as degreasers in consumer cleaning products.
Cold pressed orange oil is an intensely yellow, orange or deep orange liquid having the characteristic odor and taste of the outer part of fresh, sweet orange peel.
Experiencing the aroma. The aroma when you cut into a fresh orange is from the fragrant citrus oils contained in the fruit. Cutting a whole fresh orange into quarters or eighths and raising each section to the mouth allows you to experience the full palate of citrus oils developed in the fruit as it grew in the orange grove. The taste and flavor of fresh squeezed orange juice is the result of the combination of sugars and citrus oils found in the whole fruit.
